Canteen and food items
Our Canteen is run by Glynis McGrail and a group of parent volunteers. It operates Tuesday through to Friday. Lunch and recess may be purchased on these days. Parents can order by placing orders in the lunch crates provided in the classrooms. A canteen menu can be seen here.
Whether students purchase from the canteen or not, we ask that students bring healthy items for recess and lunch from home. Water in drink bottles is the preferred drink for students as this is a healthy option. These may be readily refilled during the day.
We are a nut and egg awareness school and request that nuts and egg food items be saved for home.
Classes have fruit and water breaks throughout the day where it is requested that all children have a piece of fresh fruit that they can eat with classmates at this time.
Breakfast club operates each morning before school in our school kitchen classroom. Children are welcome to join us for a variety of breakfast options: toast, cereal, fruit, muffins etc. They can also have a drink of Milo or milk. We will have special breakfast days that include fruit, smoothies and fruit toast.
A donation to the breakfast club would be appreciated. 🙂

Out of School Hours Care
We have two outside providers, Discovery Early Learning Centre and SPRAOI, offering after-school care for Romaine Park Primary School. Children are picked up and transported to these child care facilities by the provider. Teachers supervise children until they arrive.
We take pride in our school uniform at Romaine Park. It has been developed to be comfortable, practical and allows the children some choice in what they wear to school.
Uniform sales are coordinated by our Parent and Community group. Uniforms can be purchased at the main office on Thursdays from 2:30 – 3:00.
Our uniform policy explains the dress code and can be found here.
WE ARE A SUNSMART SCHOOL. BROAD BRIM HATS MUST BE WORN IN TERMS 1 AND 4.
New students are given a hat when they enrol and the school provides a new hat every second year, free of charge.
Parents can purchase hats if they want their child’s replaced more often. These hats are available from the main office at the cost of $10.
Specialist Support and Staff
Children and families have access to a:
- Instructional Coach – providing
- support in Literacy and Numeracy

Staff can access Support Staff when necessary and make referrals, which require parent/carer consent. We also can seek other support agencies and refer to them when needed. Feel free to contact the school if you feel you or your child needs support.
The Smith Family, Learning for Life.
At Romaine Park Primary School, many students and families have the opportunity to receive long- term education support with the Learning for Life Program. The Smith Family believe that every child deserves a chance and that circumstances should never limit the achievement of potential. To be eligible to receive a Learning for Life Scholarship, families must demonstrate a commitment to education and possess a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card. The scholarship is funded by caring sponsors’ and the program allows students and sponsors to build a relationship with one another through letter writing, following them on their education journey through to year 12 and tertiary studies.
At Romaine Park Primary School, you may come across Family Partnership Coordinator, Lucy Taylor who can link families into services to increase engagement in education. The Smith Family also host a suite of Learning for Life Programs including Student 2 Student and Learning Clubs run by our Programs Coordinator, Chris Lynch and local volunteers.
